This is made to look like a 1950-60`s illustration. I really like the naïve romantic style of things from that period.
When women would look after the cows up in the mountain all summer, and just long fore a handsome manly lorry driver to come driving by.
This was made to be on a old Board game box and helped tell the story of the board game.
www.freia.no
I also did the linear fore the game cards and the intro story.
The rest I can take no credit fore but I must say I think it all came out real nice!

The Rainbow Chasers

Story:

The thunder gods had been riding the land hard for weeks on end!
Now, suddenly, the sun broke through the stormy clouds,
and, according to the great Mushroom master, the conditions for rainbow chasing were optimal!

The DunderTroll got up steam, and headed out into the great valley, carefully guided by the helmsman.
The big troll couldn't see too well after all those years in the black mines.
Little Ole at the steering wheel just couldn’t believe his luck. To be chosen as helmsman on a great and important adventure like this was beyond his wildest dreams!
The Pinecone-Knight was already missing his big comfy chair by the fireplace.
Princess Aurora knew she had a prophecy to fulfill. She just didn’t know what?
The eyes of the great Mushrom Master were sore from peering into his magic marble. He could see great hardships, dangers, and rewards in the future.
But what worried him the most was…
...he could not see the end of this great journey!
And Bulder the cook…
...he was just so nervous that he had been occupying the toilet all morning!

This is my contribution to The Journey Begins challenge.

This is the big sooty steam troll and his little fellow travellers setting of on the great rainbow chase.
Looks like it could be a long journey in deed. From my personal experience they are extremely hard to catch! 

Background is sort of a mat paining mixing 6-7 photos and painted over in Photoshop.
The foreground was made with 3ds Max and mostly rendered in final render (some scan line and mental ray).
Hair and grass is standard max hair.

This unit should have everything these optimistic journeymen (and woman) should need on their endless chase.
Water and food supply, kitchen, hammocks fore resting and sleeping.
Plus a clever steering system to help guide the Dundertroll on his way.
All those years as a work-slave in the black mines ruined his eyesight poor guy!
This is a mix of things. The background is a sort of mat paint test I did for a game design.
The setting was the perfect background and home town, fore the knight.
He’s all 3d but the beard and eyebrows are rather heavily painted over to get the desired effect.

Tøcksfors Family

This is a funny little family I created fore a Swedish shopping mall (Tøcksfors).
It’s printed A3 size cover art.
I’ve had these sketches lying around fore a long time of characters with broomstick heads.
So this was an opportunity to try them out. The figures ended up more realistic but the strange heads still work in a weird way…
I sketch and ink on paper, scan and clean up the inked lines in Photoshop. Then I turn the lines into vectors in Illustrator (streamline).
This cleans up and gives the lines much more smooth edges. Save it as ai. format and then open it again in Photoshop.
This gives me a Photoshop document with only the black lines nothing else. So finally there is colouring on the layers I create under and over the lines.
